Japan trip

Hello there!

I am so sorry for not updating this blog during the holidays. I have been really busy with a lot of things. During the holidays, I managed to paint the four walls of my bedroom all by MYSELF!!! Can you believe that? It took me two days to complete the task. It was really a TIRING job. My back ached after painting the walls.

I also went to IKEA to get a new wardrobe for my clothes. Hahahaha! I love my new wardrobe and I love my new mattress. I can now have a good night sleep! :)

Some of you know that I went to Japan for a short 5-day holiday. I went with my friends to Osaka and Kyoto. These two cities are in the main island of Japan called Honshu. Osaka is the third largest city in Japan after Tokyo and Yokohama. The two cities are quite close to each other. It took us about thirty minutes journey via the famous bullet train. For those who want to visit Japan, the bullet train service is called Shinkasen.

On the first day in Osaka, we went to the Universal Studio! We spent one whole day at the theme park. It was really fun! Of course, we went on all major rides. The one I love the most was the roller coaster ride. It was called Hollywood Dream. The first peak was as high as a eight-storey building! It was a slow climb up. However, just as we had reached the top, the car accelerated down at a top speed. I could not help feeling as if I was falling from a building! The ride made me literally shake to my bones. Hahaha. My friend, on the other hand, closed his eyes in fear.

On the second day in Osaka, we went to visit a castle called Osaka-jo. It was an enjoyable trip. I learnt a lot about ancient Japan, the age of samurais, ninjas and wars between samurai families. After a tiring outing at the castle, we went shopping at downtown.  We bought a lot of stuff. The things were really nice and definitely not available in this country.

On the third day we moved on to Kyoto via Shinkasen. Kyoto is the royal city of Japan. This is where the Emperor live. Kyoto is very clean and the people of the city are very nice. It is a charming modern city with hundreds of old, traditional temples hidden among the tall buildings. We visited the top ten most famous temples in Kyoto plus the imperial palace within the next two days.

I really enjoyed my trip to Japan especially the cold weather and the food. I miss Kyoto and I hope that I can visit the city again.

Sayonara!

Holidays are HERE! Yea yea yea!

Holler to all my ladies and dudes!

Yeah! Congratulations to all those who have survived the 2-3 weeks of "intensive brain torturing" session of paperwork and memorisation. Say goodbye to your sleepless nights of worrying, last minute panic and religious chanting of the formulae at every few minutes.

The HOLIDAYS are here! YES! So what you guys are planning for this coming holidays? Anyone planning to go overseas? I thought of going to Indonesia in December but at the moment, I still cannot find any buddy to go along with. As you all know that I love taking nice photos, so I thought I can make this trip into a photo trip.

Anyway....

I was chatting with my friend over MSN and he was telling me on how we should encourage you guys to read other stuff besides Readers' Digest. I do agree with him to a certain extent. I understand his point of view. He said we should encourage you guys to read widely and not only be limited to current affairs. I agree with him on that point. However, as a student (don't laugh la. I'm not that OLD yet), my teachers used to make us read Readers' Digest too. Looking back, I think I have a decent knowledge about the world because of their constant nagging on reading RD.

When I was in JC, although my tutors did not preach about subscribing to Times magazine, I took the initiative to subscribe it. I believe that we need to train our minds on our understanding about the world. Reading current affairs stuff really challenge our minds and strengthen our power of reasoning.

HOWEVER, it does not mean I disallow reading magazines. We do have our favourite celebrities and stars right? I understand the need to find out or read about them. Nevertheless, we need to prioritise which one is more useful to us. The tabloids or the current affairs? If you ask me, I think we should read the current affairs before the tabloids because during exams, the thing that going to help you a lot in writing that argumentative (general knowledge based) essay is the current affairs, not your tabloids.

Since it is holidays, you can read whatever that you wish to.

Exams are OVER!

Hey People!

Sorry for not posting for quite sometime. I have been very busy. :(

Yes! Finally exams are over. I can hear a lot hoorays and cheering from you guys. :)

I hope all of you had studied well enough and most importantly, you had given your best try in every paper! This week, all of you will be getting back your papers for every subject. Do yourselves a BIG favour by checking whether the marks had been correctly calculated. Every mark counts. A difference of one mark can decide whether you pass or fail or get an A or a B. So, do not just talk to your friends in class. Check your paper thoroughly first. Okie dokie? :)

Marking of papers was definitely not an easy task especially when you have lots of scripts. So you guys have to pity me okay? After marking, I still need to analyse the results i.e. find out which question/ section you guys are weak at.

Anyway, even though there is no more examination, that does not mean we can rest, play and forget all that have been taught. Of course we can play and have fun BUT not too much. We do not want to forget what we have learnt this year right? If we forget, it means we have to relearn everything again next year. That will be a huge waste of time.

Okay people. I have to go off. Take care!

PS: Thank you for those who had leave comments to my blog! :)

Cheers

Exams Blues

Hey cool people,

Another weekend had just whizzed by. Another weekend I am looking towards to. LOL!

At least there’s a PUBLIC HOLIDAY this week. YAY to Hari Raya! Wooots! It’s a pity that the holiday does not fall on Friday. If it is, we can get a long weekend.

Something about Hari Raya:

A few decades ago, villagers used to look up in the sky at night on the last few days of the fasting month (Ramadan). They were looking out for the new moon because the appearance of the new moon indicates that the next day will be Hari Raya. Nowadays, we depended on mathematical calculations to do all that.

Anyway, tomorrow is Children’s Day. I am quite sad that I cannot spend it with my kids at SKPS. However, I managed to print a class picture for each of them. I also wrote a simple Children’s Day wish behind the photo. I will try to go down to SKPS after school today to pass the photos to them.

On a more serious note, it is the exams season now. Please do remember to open that dusty books and notes of yours and revise them. Please ask your respective subject teachers for help if you are still unclear about some topics. Please do, okay?

Remember Not to Have Any Regrets!

Lastly, I wish all of you Good Luck in all of your examinations. Hope all of you will pass and get promoted to the next level.

Cheers

What a bad week!

The past few days have been very tiring for me emotionally and mentally. It means I am having a headache from thinking too much. Thinking about how hypocritical society can be. If being a hypocrite is not bad enough, how about being self-contradicting? I just could not imagine the implications (consequences).

All of us know that actions speak louder than words. Whether you are sincere in your actions, it’s reflected by your gestures not by how well you speak. Smooth (sweet) talkers can only woo the crowd temporarily but after a while, the audience will get bored and true colours of the charmer will be revealed.

We (including me) should look back and reflect on our past actions. We need to ask ourselves whether we have done past things:

- because of sincerity (from the heart) or
- are they for mere showcase, to show to other people that you are good in something or
- for glory and fame
- to condemn/laugh at/look down on those who do not do as well

If we do tasks sincerely, tolerance will come naturally. This means we will not judge others who are different from us, who choose not to conform and those who have the courage to themselves.

Personally, I find it a very hypocritical thing to judge others because a person who is perfect will know that judging someone will make him/her imperfect.

Are we doing good deeds so that we can criticize those who are doing the wrong ones?
Are we fasting so that we can look down on people who don’t?
Are we praying so that we can condemn those who don’t?
